A top adviser to Joe Biden admitted President Trump’s policies effectively stopped illegal immigration from Mexico while Biden’s have encouraged it.

In a press briefing Wednesday, Roberta Jacobson, Biden’s immigration aide, admitted the latest increase in border crossings happened because of his promises to provide immigration status to illegal migrants. She also admitted President Trump’s policies have deterred illegal arrivals for years.

“Surges tend to respond to hope and there was a significant hope for a more humane policy after four years of pent-up demand,” Jacobson stated.

Biden’s immigration aide also admitted his open-border rhetoric is used by human-smugglers to boost their revenues, but claimed she’s working to discourage illegal immigrants from coming to the U.S.
